Develop a plan and strategy for a hearing

Welcome To New Castle Beach

This is the place for New Castle NH dog owners to work together  to open the beach to dogs on a limited basis during the summer months. Currently dogs are not allowed on the beach or commons from May 15 to September 15.Nearby towns, in contrast, allow dogs in the early morning hours and the late evening hours.

During the winter months dog owners in New Castle have enjoyed the sense of community shared with dogs and dog owners  on the beach. The dogs have a marvelous time and the owners get to know each other. Now that spring summer season is approaching we want to explore the possibility of providing limited hours at the beginning and the end of the day for dogs to be able to get their daily fun.

Our draft proposal (revised 4/25/2010):

No dogs are allowed on the New Castle Commons or beach from May 15 to September 15, except before 9AM and after 7PM. In the Commons area during the allowed hours, dogs are further restricted to the paved roadways. At all times dogs must be under physical or verbal control, and dog owners are always responsible for picking up their dog’s waste.

News

The Selectmen said we would need to petition for a hearing, and that so far they were unconvinced. (5/2/2010) See the blog.
